Join us for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s O n Aug. 25, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place at Mary Virginia Crites Hannan Park in Circleville, Ohio. Currently, in the United States there are more than 5.7 million Americans with Alzheimer’s disease. While there are some treatments for symptoms, these individuals are still looking for a cure. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s helps raise money for just that, and they’ve set their goal at $89,000 for this event. Alzheimer’s is a heart-breaking disease, but all too often we forget about the time and energy it takes to care for someone with Alzheimer’s. There are 16.1 million Americans providing unpaid care for people with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, and Tom Bevan is one of those people. Tom and Barbara’s story In 2002, Tom and his wife Barbara consulted their family doctor about their suspicions that Barbara might have Alzheimer’s. After visiting a neurologist, the diagnosis was confirmed. There were immediate concerns for the Bevan family, but Barbara’s biggest concern was who was going to take care of her.
